Human Subjects
Welcome to my gallery where you can see the portraits I have created and how my style has progressed over the years. My earlier portraits are also included at the bottom of the page.
Graphite Portraits
Graphite was where it all began. I create the shading by building up layers using different grades of pencil. The main focus with any portrait is always the face but I also try to create as much detail in the clothing as possible using the same methods. I use darker grades of pencil for the darker areas of shading to create a realistic look to my drawings.
Graphite & Colour Combination Portraits
I experimented with this a few years back after seeing some similar ideas on social media. I like the way they turned out and, as well as giving my customers an extra option, it really creates a one of a kind portrait.
Colour Portraits
Personally colour is my favourite medium to work with. It took me a lot longer to learn how to create my portraits with colour but now I feel I can produce a much more realistic look to my subjects with colour. Similarly to graphite, the drawings are built up with many layers of colour but unlike the graphite portraits these do take longer to produce.
Animal Portraits
I decided to give animals a go back at the beginning of 2022. I started with the sloth and I absolutely loved every minute drawing it. My personal preference when drawing animals is to produce them in colour but I am happy to produce them in graphite at the request of my customers.

Commissioned Portraits
Below are some portraits I did for friends of mine when I was first starting out and learning different techniques. I have included these on my website to highlight how my style has progressed over the years. The photograph quality of these isn't the greatest as they were taken in the days before I invested in a scanner.

The Process
Commissioning a portrait is a straight forward process. Please follow the link below for more information on how to do this. You'll find guidance on how to choose the perfect photographs for me to work from as well as how I arrange multiple photographs to create one drawing with multiple subjects.
I will provide progress photographs during the process so you can see your portrait come to life, unless you request for this not to happen, I will provide a scan of the portrait before it is complete so that you can check to make sure the likeness is exact and to see if you want me to make any final amendments before I send your portrait.
